  Better Sleep Tips    

Use the bed for sleeping

Avoid watching TV or using laptop computers in bed. Reading in bed can be a problem if the material is very stimulating. If it helps to read before sleep, make sure you use a very small wattage bulb to read. Bright light from these activities may inhibit sleep.


Exercise in the morning

Plan to exercise during the morning. Working out in the evening can act as a stimulant to some people.


Don’t go to bed on a full stomach

Digestion takes lots of energy and will keep you awake.


Control your temperature

Keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature. Not too warm and not too cold. Cooler is better than warmer.


Structure your bedtime routine

Once your body gets used to a routine, it will naturally want to fall asleep at the designated time.


Avoid stimulants before bed

Caffeinated products such as coffee, soda, sweets, and some brands of diet pills stimulate the body. Caffeine keeps you awake, makes for more restless sleep, and acts as a diuretic, causing you to make more trips to the bathroom.


Don't stress

If you feel you are not getting enough sleep don’t worry! It will just make matters worse. Know you will sleep eventually.


Go to bed when you are tired

If you can't get to sleep for over 30 minutes, get out of bed and do something boring in dim light until you are sleepy.
